Article

[edit]

For reference, the article was created as a redirection to 1017 Records in 2013. On 18 Jan 2016, removed redirection and created an article on rapper Frenchie. Bulk of content written and summarized between 18 January and 25 January, 2016, with relevant references. For further information, refer to page history. DA1 (talk) 08:31, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

IP edits

[edit]

As recommended by an admin, I am starting this discussion for some of my issues with the recent influx of IP edits to the article. As noted before, these edits seem to be largely cosmetic, and non-constructive. With the amount of edits & reverts between us, I'm opting to abstain from further edit war but feel that the IP edits constitute Wikipedia:Disruptive editing. Most of the attempts at discussion has taken place on the 'View History' page in addition to my PMs to these IPs 'Talk pages', where i elaborate on my reasoning. but i can't come to a resolution, and received no responses.

The IP(s) have routinely re-edited "New York rappers" as mentioned in the intro to "East Coast rappers", despite me telling him/her that choice of phrase is not suitable, since East Coast is overly generalized and could refer to any of the states (CT, NJ, PA) when the rappers in question are specifically NY based and can be left at that.

There was no reply to my PM, and another edit was made reverting my revert, and this time around the subject's name (Greg Hogan) was changed to his stage name (Frenchie) in the section titled "Early Life". I reverted the edit, pointing out its appropriate to start off referring to him by his real name when it specifically involves his Early Life & birth.

In addition to leaving my previous PM on the Talk Page of the newer IP address, hoping to spark a discussion and come to a resolution.

Once again no response or resolution, and my revert was reverted. This time around an edit was made adding "Born" tag to the bio/infobox, which is identical to the "Origin" tag [1]. Format precedence requires that we have one or the other, and only both if the two differ. Such as an artist being 'born' in Kenya and moving to Chicago (which becomes his 'origin'/hometown). So now the biobox has redundant lines.

In one particular edit, IP stated [2] "Frenchie was born and raised in South Jamaica, Queens, his origin is South Jamaica, Queens not Atlanta, Georgia", despite there never having been a mention of "Atlanta, Georgia" in the infobox.

In a recent edit, IP has added Fredo Santana to "Associated acts", despite Template:Infobox_musical_artist#associated_acts stating a "single" collab/song does not warrant that. The artist tagged only had one song "My Squad" [3] with the subject. Associated acts should be notable or frequent. In previous edits, IP has routinely changed the {{flatlist}} format in the infobox to the comma format, despite the prior being acceptable.

In another recent edit,[4] IP has duplicated citation links when I had already put <ref name="EME"/> tag in the relevant lines which linked to the same source. IP is also engaged in redundant "overlinking" of city/states and labels/groups (as per Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Linking#Overlinking). There have been other edits since. As of now, IP has changed "New York" in the line to "traveled back and forth between Queens and Atlanta"[5], despite a previous understanding between us where I explained [6] Queens is a borough not a city, and NY (city) includes Queens (neighborhood) within it. Where he is from doesn't go in the lead sentence unless it is reason or part of notability

[edit]

Is where the subject is from part of his notability? --Malerooster (talk) 15:38, 9 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed this for the umpteenth time. --Malerooster (talk) 14:45, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
